The Caucasian Chalk Circle was written by Berthold Brecht in 1944 and premiered in 1948.  This score was written for a production at Northampton Community College (Bethlehem, PA, USA) in 2004, and directed by Norman Roberts.

There are six songs scored for the places where Brecht calls for music in the script.

All of the vocal parts are Brecht's text set to the melodies of children's songs.  While this was the original concept of our production, all of the music was scrapped as the production team took a totally new direction after the music had been completed.

Scored for voice(s) and a trio of instrumentalists:

Harmonium & Celesta (1 player)

Eb Alto Horn

Cello
